IHM HOSPITAL MARYGIRI School Of Nursing
The School of Nursing at IHM Marygiri, Bharananganam, Kottayam, has a long and meaningful history rooted in service and compassion. It was established as part of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) Hospital, which was founded in 1948 by the Medical Mission Sisters to provide quality healthcare to the people of the region, especially the poor and the marginalized. As healthcare services expanded, the need for trained and dedicated nurses became increasingly important.
In response to this need, the School of Nursing was established in 1957, founded to meet the growing need for professional nursing education. Since its inception, the institution has been committed to academic excellence, ethical values, and compassionate patient care. Over the years, the school has played a significant role in preparing competent nursing professionals to serve effectively in hospitals and community healthcare settings. The General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) programme received recognition from the State Government and subsequently from the Indian Nursing Council (INC), ensuring adherence to national educational standards. In addition to the GNM programme, the school offers a two-year Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) programme, and a two-year Barath of Sevak samaj (BSS) programme, over the years, the School of Nursing at IHM Marygiri has grown into a respected institution in nursing education. Guided by strong moral values and a commitment to service, it has produced generations of skilled nurses who continue to serve society with dedication and professionalism.
